Gobblin' Good Time

"Gobblin' Good Time"

The "Gobblin' Good Time" event was organized in 1996 by then Lieutenant Bruce Relph. The event was designed as another way for officers to interact with the community and the local youth. The Augusta Department of Public Safety (ADPS) is proud of the event and takes pride in being community oriented. The event is held in the Augusta High School Auditorium near the end of October in each year and is sponsored by Augusta Crime Stoppers, Inc.

This event is similar to the Bugs Bunny club, as the youth come out in costume and watch movies. Again, prizes are given out through the duration of the event and bags of treats are handed out as the youth leave. A parade of costumes is held and special guests always include McGruff, the Crime Fighting Dog; Bugs Bunny; and Smokey the Bear.

This event is always a crowd pleaser and parents often attend with their children.

Suggested admission is one (1) canned good item to be donated to the Augusta Community Caring Center.
