Municipal Court and Court Clerk

The Augusta Municipal Court and the Court Clerk are located in the Augusta Public Safety building, located at 2100 N. Ohio Street.  Municipal court proceedings are normally held each Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Proceedings are on a first come basis and attendees are asked to sign in when they enter the court room.  Names are called in the order they signed in.

The Municipal Court Clerk, Cecelia Knowles, is responsible for processing all municipal court paperwork, citations and ordinance violations.

What are court costs in the City of Augusta?

Court costs for the City of Augusta are currently $35.00.  Court costs cover fees associated with processing of paperwork, court scheduling and other administrative items.  Court costs must be paid on citations regardless of whether a defendant chooses to appear in court.
     
What if I need to reschedule a Court Date?

If you are not able to attend a scheduled court appearance, you must contact the Municipal Court clerk at least 24-hours in  advance of the scheduled appearance time.  A continuance is not guaranteed and each request is evaluated on a case by case basis.

Do I have a warrant and how can I take care of it?

If you need to check to see if you have a warrant for your arrest through the City of Augusta, you can contact the Municipal Court Clerk.  If you do, in fact, have a warrant, you can appear in court at 1:00 pm on any Tuesday, or turn yourself into the Department of Public Safety.

What forms of payment do you accept?

The Augusta Municipal Court accepts cash, money orders and personal checks.  There is a $35.00 fee on any returned check!  You may also pay online using a debt or credit card at www.augustatix.comWe do not accept credit/debit cards in the office or in court.

Can I check my drivers license to see if it is valid?

Yes!  You can visit the Kansas Department of Revenue website by clicking here to check the status of your drivers license free of charge.
