Public Safety Officer (Police Officer/Firefighter)
The Augusta Department of Public Safety (combined Police and Fire) is seeking highly motivated applicants for
the position of Pulic Safety Officer. This position will be both a commissioned law enforcement officer as well
as a firefighter and rescue technician. The Augusta Department of Public Safety is a unique agency that is on the
cutting edge of law enforcement and firefighting techniques. The agency offers great equipment, paid uniforms and
cleaning, excellent benefit plans and 12-hour shifts that allow every officer to have a three-day (Friday, Saturday,
Sunday) weekend off every other weekend.
Salary Information
Non-Certified Officers to start at $13.25 per hour. Certified Officers are encouraged to apply and will start
between $14.00 and $15.00 per hour DOQ, with overtime available regularly.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be 21 years of age, in good physical condition, free of any felony or
Domestic Violence convictions and be of the highest moral character. In addition, the City of Augusta
does have a residency policy and prohibits tobacco use on or off duty.
