Don't Text and Drive! The Augusta Department of Public Safety is committed to the safety of our citizens and those who travel through Augusta. Did you know Distracted driving is one of the most serious safety issues on our nation’s roadways.  In 2009 alone, nearly 5,500 people were killed and 500,000 more were injured in distracted driving-related crashes.  But, as US DOT Secretary LaHood says in his introduction to the series, “Behind these numbers are children, parents, neighbors, and friends—their families torn apart by senseless, preventable crashes." Please take a few minutes to view the website at http://www.distraction.gov/faces.
