Augusta Department of Public Safety Mission Statement

The department is committed to the basic mission of order maintenance, crime control, fire suppression, and fear reduction by structuring our service delivery in a way that will reinforce the strengths of the City of Augusta and Fire District #2. The department will build partnerships with the community it serves and with other stakeholders in order to identify the best way to solve problems. What's new on the site?

Do you need a storm shelter??? In case of severe weather, those who do not have a storm shelter may come to the Augusta Department of Public Safety building, located at 2100 N. Ohio Street. Our staff will open a room that will serve as a shelter.


Driver Cameron Knox and a passenger in a 1995 Jeep escaped serious injury in a fiery crash around 7 p.m. Monday evening near the intersection of Belmont & Crest. The vehicle was westbound on Belmont, according to police, when it went out of control, hit a utility pole, fire hydrant, street sign, and stop sign before rolling over and catching fire.Knox and his passenger exited the vehicle before it caught fire and  refused services of Emergency Medical Services at the scene.
