The Augusta Department of Public Safety (ADPS) prides itself on being one of the most well equipped and modern agencies in the area. Our patrol division maintains a fleet of twelve vehicles, both marked and unmarked units. Four of these vehicles are assigned to patrol, one is assigned to the K-9 Unit, and two are assigned to the School Resource Officers. In addition, three of the vehicles are utilized by investigations and administration.
All of our patrol units are equipped with radars, emergency lighting, and equipment needed to investigate crimes and work traffic accidents. The patrol units are normally replaced every two-years.
In 2006, Chief Brewer was able to gain support for a black and white paint scheme for the patrol fleet. Several of our existing cars were painted and new cars were ordered to the black and white specs. An abundance of great comments have come from the design.
